I just wanted to share with you all that our Emily cat died last night at 8:45 pm. Emily had been fighting cancer, we think, for the last 2-3 months. We've been giving her medication twice daily since the end of September. She had still been eating, drinking water, walking around, and sitting in my lap especially when I was working at the computer. We adopted Emily in October of 1996 when she was two years old. We buried her this morning under the magnolia tree in our back yard close to Tabby & Baby cats. It is always like losing a member of the family.......

Roy & Dale Museum
I just received an e-mail announcing that the Roy Rogers & Dale Evans Museum in Branson, Mo is closing permanently in December. The family said that the uncertain economy and the declining attendance over the last two years had forced the decision. Roy & Dale had a good influence on several young generations. It is sad to see much of their legacy lost.

WOMAN AT THE WELL
I sold our beloved "Woman at the Well" fountain today. She has been an admired fixture of our store for nearly ten years. It is always hard to part with cherished parts of our lives. But for many of us, we look ahead for something better.
"But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly:
wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God:
for He hath prepared for them a city."

EASTER
It was once said:
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
And another:
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed."
But then this:
"He is not here, but is risen."
May everyone have a good Easter.

PEACE IN A CHAOTIC WORLD
"Be careful for nothing;
but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God,
which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts
and minds
through Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:6-7

OF PATIENCE & PROMISES
"Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry." Hebrews 10:35-37

Roy Rogers
I had the chance to meet Jay Silverheels [Tonto] at the Lions Bluegrass Fair in Lexington back in the middle 60s when I was around 10 years old. My Dad handled the advertising for the Fair and the family went the night Jay was headlined. I chickened out, but my Mom got Jay's autograph. I understand that he was quite a successful businessman. My real childhood hero, however, was Roy Rogers. He and Dale made quite an impact on my early years. Actually, they still are impacting my life. I just ran across another of Dale's books at an anitques show this past weekend. It is a collection of letters to her son, Tom, that was released back in 1957. Even years after she is gone, she is "helping" me through the horrific spiritual valleys where I currently walk.

Lone Ranger
The Lone Ranger and Tonto went camping in the desert. After they got their tent all set up, both men fell sound asleep. > > Some hours later, Tonto woke the Lone Ranger and said, > "Kemo Sabe, look at sky. What you see?" > > The Lone Ranger replied, "I see millions of stars." > > "What that tell you?" asked Tonto. > > The Lone Ranger pondered for a minute and then said, > "Astronomically speaking, it tells me there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. > Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo. >Time wise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three in the morning. >Theologically, the Lord is all-powerful and we are small and insignificant. >Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. >What's it tell you, Tonto?" > > "You dumber than buffalo patties. It mean someone stole tent.

AGAINST THE PRICKS
"And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him. Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou Me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks."
Acts 9:4-5

The Road of Friendship
It was once told to me that the very best of friends should only contact each other once, or twice, a year.
I am so far down on some friendship lists, that I should not expect to hear from such friends for 5, 10, or maybe 20 years.
I am so far down on some friendship lists, that I should not expect to hear from such friends for 5, 10, or maybe 20 years.
Heck, I expect to be dead and buried in the grave before I am contacted by others.
Dare I initiate contact with them without permission?
This is a sad commentary on friendship, indeed.
Someone else has said:
A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
Also:
There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
And finally:
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
I have such a Friend.

And finally:

I have such a Friend.
We have walked together since I was but a child, yet the road He chooses is narrow.
It is strewn with rocks, and even boulders.
It is strewn with rocks, and even boulders.
There are ruts and tree roots to avoid.
Also, many streams to ford.
There are wild beasts that would devour me.
This road mostly leads through the valleys.
This road mostly leads through the valleys.
Sometimes we climb to the top of the mountains.
As I grow older, one might think that I have become a seasoned traveler on this road.
As I grow older, one might think that I have become a seasoned traveler on this road.
Yet with age, I only seem to fall more than I did as a youth.
When I was a young, I often ran ahead with anticipation.
When I was a young, I often ran ahead with anticipation.
Now I am only weary.
Yet, my Friend and I travel on.
Sometimes we talk.
Sometimes we talk.
Sometimes we walk side by side in silence.
The road winds through the forest now.
The road winds through the forest now.
The sights and sounds of creation still awe even such an aged traveler as myself.
My spirit is renewed within me by the beauty.
Alas, I see the valley of the shadow of death up ahead.
Alas, I see the valley of the shadow of death up ahead.
With my Friend's help, we will traverse that valley as we have many before.
Beyond that, He tells me of a city, His city.
Beyond that, He tells me of a city, His city.
He comforts me with stories of its great beauty.
I find myself yearning for His city.
My Friend and I will spend an eternity there.
Such is what He promises me.
Once we have reached His city, and my new home, I think we will not return by this narrow road every again.

Ecclesiastes 3
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stone, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
A time of war, and a time of peace.
He hath made every thing beautiful in His time."
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, and 11

Rise up and hear.
"God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? Or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?"

WISDOM FOR 2009
"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is." Ephesians 5:15-17
