GOVERNOR FLETCHER & THE KHP

HERE IS MY LATEST LETTER TO THE EDITOR OF THE LEXINGTON HERALD LEADER:
GOVERNOR FLETCHER, YOUR PORTRAIT HANGS PROUDLY IN THE VISITOR CENTER OF THE KENTUCKY HORSE PARK SO I ASSUME THAT MEANS "THE BUCK STOPS WITH YOU." WHY THEN HAVE YOU STOOD BY AND ALLOWED MUCH OF THE "HEART AND SOUL" OF THE KHP TO DRAIN AWAY? AS A FREQUENT VISITOR TO THE KHP AND A 2006 VOLUNTEER, I HAVE SEEN SOME OF THE "BEST OF THE BEST" LEAVE. THESE ARE PEOPLE WITH 10, 15 AND EVEN 28 YEARS EXPERIENCE WITH THE PARK. NEW STADIUMS AND ROADS ARE NEEDED FOR SURE, BUT THE WORLD WILL BE MEETING OUR "FRONTLINERS". ONE WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT WITH THE APPROACHING 2010 GAMES THAT MORE ATTENTION WOULD BE PAID TO RETAIN A VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND EXPERIENCED STAFF. ALAS, THE OPPOSITE SEEMS TRUE AT THE KHP. I AM A LIFELONG REPUBLICAN AND I VOTED FOR YOU IN THE 2007 PRIMARY. NEVERTHELESS, I HAVE INFORMED YOUR "HEAD OF CONSTITUENT SERVICES" THAT I WILL NOT VOTE FOR YOU IN THE FALL ELECTION. CHANGE MY MIND.

THIS WAS SUBMITTED TO THE HERALD LEADER ON SUNDAY AUGUST 5TH. CHECK OUT http://www.dennychapman.blogspot.com/ FOR A TRIBUTE TO LINDA BRANTLEY, "THE VOICE OF THE KENTUCKY HORSE PARK" WHO HAS RECENTLY RETIRED AFTER 28 YEARS.
